Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Centralia College offers an EMT training program through Career & Technical Education.
This course covers all techniques of emergency medical care presently considered the responsibilities of a technician in this role. This class is designed to ensure a uniformly high level of knowledge and skills among those involved in emergency care.

HOW TO REGISTER
- Submit an admission form to Centralia College online.
- Program: Professional Technical
- Degree: Emergency Medical Technician
- Complete the online EMT application.
- Starting July 13 - Submit the online EMT program application. The application is closed until July 13.
- Have agency information, if applicable, available when filling out the EMT application.
Both steps are required to be considered for admission.
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority review is
given to agency-affiliated submissions.

Career Possibilities in EMT
- Must be 18 years old within one year of completion date
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License (provide a copy)
- Completed items from the EMT Registration Packet:
- Registration Form
- Apparel Order Form
- Sponsorship & Intent to Pay Form
- Signed Grad/GED Statement (confirmation of high school diploma or GED)
- Washington State Patrol Background Check Form
- Criminal History Check Form
Important Note: Internet access will be needed throughout the course.

- Insurance, administration, evaluator fees, lab consumables, etc.
- CPNW, background check, EMT prep, CPR
- Texttbook and workbook
- Class and clinical shirt
Student-Provided Materials:
- Blood pressure cuff
- Stethoscope
- Safety glasses
- Slackes/pants for clinicals
- Closed-toed shoes
- Students seeking initial EMT certification must complete an EMT training course and
receive a certificate of completion. At this point, sponsorship or affiliation with
an agency isn't required.
- After completion of the course, students must successfully pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

Students must submit an Initial EMS Certification Application to the Washington State Department of Health, which includes EMT course certificate of completion, NREMT passing score, and proof of agency association/sponsorship.
Employment for Emergency Medical Technicians is in demand. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment projections forecast Emergency Medical Technician jobs growing at a rate of 15 percent with a median wage estimated at $22.41 per hour.
