The Bachelor of Applied Science in Software Engineering (BAS-SE) has been designed to ensure graduates have a strong technical foundation in application and software development.

Program Details 

The BAS-SE program is an additional two years of full-time study beyond a two-year associate degree. This program was formerly known as Information Technology: App Development.

  • Six quarters of classes
  • Three classes (15 credits) per quarter
  • No summer classes

Graduates are prepared to work as application developers to create wide ranges of applications for the software industry.

Steps to Apply

Centralia College's Bachelor of Applied Science programs are closed for the 2024-25 academic year.  We will begin accepting applications for 2025-26 on Jan. 13, 2025. Please watch here for instructions and a link to the online applications.
 

Minimum Admission Requirements

Admission into the BAS-SE program is merit-based. Meeting the minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission as the number of qualified applicants may exceed the number of amiable enrollment spaces. In order to be placed into the admissions pool, applicants must complete or submit the following:

  • Completion of the BAS application materials
  • Proof of an earned associate or higher degree or 90 college-level credits (junior standing) from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Proof of completing 10 or more lower division credits in programming languages with a minimum 2.0 grade in each course

 

General Education Degree Required Courses

The following courses must be completed prior to earning a bachelor's degree. These courses can be included in the two year degree or be completed during the bachelor’s program in addition to the required courses. Students who have completed the requirements at the time of application will receive preferred entrance consideration.

  • 10 credits of Communications (C)
  • 5 credits of Social Science (SS)
  • 15 credits of college-level math Quantitative Skills (M)
    • MATH& 142, MATH 118, or MATH 128/MATH 102
    • MATH& 146 Introducation to Stats
    • MATH 228/202
  • 5 credits of Natural Science w/lab (NS)
  • 5 credits of any distribution elective (C, H, SS, M, NS)

Tuition

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) sets the tuition rate.
